This blog complements my website, The Motley Monk, which provides recipes and discussion about the very good food guests are served at Holy Innocents Hermitage II (HIH II). What distinguishes the blog from the website is that the blog serves as a forum for the type of discussion that unfolds among guests dining at HIH II. "Rough edges" are welcome but not "uncivil language."
Topics for discussion include theological and spiritual matters, cooking tips and ideas, as well as political and social commentary. Seated around the table of this blog, people are welcome to express their ideas, which some people will agree with, while others won't. However, The Motley Monk will be engaging in discussion about these topics and responding as Roman Catholics think about these matters with the goal of demonstrating their reasonability.
The food described on The Motley Monk webpage and the discussion on this complementary blog constitutes the good life. All of this fosters spiritual and intellectual growth, especially when supplemented with some fine adult beverages and cigars at HIH II!
