Under my administration, America is producing more oil today than at any time in the last eight years. That’s why we have a record number of oil rigs operating right now---more working oil and gas rigs than the rest of the world combined.
That heresy is enough to put environmentalists into a tailspin. After all, this was their candidate for President in 2008. They believed that Barack Obama was going to save the globe from all of those dastardly oil producers. And now he is in Miami claiming to be the "Oil Producer-in-Chief"! Those are fossil fuels---non-renewable sources of energy---that he's touting!
However, the ultra-political lefties needn't fear, The Motley Monk would observe. It won't be long before President Obama addresses them at some conference perhaps in Aspen, Colorado, or Jackson Hole, Wyoming, telling them how this increase in domestic drilling took place on state and private land...where he has no authority. It's those dastardly oil producers, drilling on state and private land, who are to blame for this awful increase in drilling for oil.
The facts?
According to the Institute on Energy Research, oil production on federal land declined 11% in FY2011 while oil production on state lands increased in FY2011 by 14% and 12% on private lands.
Those facts provide the "Oil Producer-in-Chief" plenty of cover and he knows it. Even though drilling in the United States has increased under his administration (but President Obama didn't tell the Miami audience that this has taken place in state and private land over which he has no say and attempting to regulate), he can tell his ultra-lefty political pals that overall drilling is down (but President Obama won't tell this audience that this has occurred only because it was on federal land over which he does have say).
Yesiree! President Obama can please both audiences by talking out of both sides of his mouth. Or, is he simply being two-faced?
The Motley Monk wonders: As the price of gasoline continues to increase---a goal of President Obama---will he continue to be able to fool the members of both audiences into voting for his re-election?
According to AAA, the states with the highest average gas price/gallon on February 21, 2012 were: Hawaii @ $4.26; California @ $4.04; Alaska @ $3.93; New York @ $3.88; and, Connecticut @ $3.87.

Two different explanations for the variation, i.e., why are HA and CA high?
ReplyDeleteHawaii gets the double whammy because the fuel has to be shipped in - and shipping costs rise with fuel prices.
California is due to regulations.
Obama must think he can say whatever he wants, to whomever he is speaking and his contradictions, prevarications and miscues will not be reported on or included in the public record.
ReplyDeleteOh wait... maybe he knows something the lemmings can't understand.
I mean, there is no record of his college transcripts, no explanation about his social security number, no record of how he paid for college or any insight about who he knew and what he did to get the Democrats and the MainStream media to 'throw Hilary under the bus'.
(No.. I am not 'a birther' I am, merely, a son of The SecondCity. Anyone who knows a thing or two about Democratic Politicians in Chicago knows... 'They don't want No Body.. that NOBODY sent')
The 'powers that be' and the lemmings, elected such an experienced, educated.... lawyer? professor? legislator? NO... a citizen of the world, a man of peace and accomplishment - someone truly deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize.
Why should he care about:
-his performance in office
-the price of gasoline
-his Union friends who are ready to...
-trashing the Constitution with the NDAA
-allowing drones to spy on the USA
-closing GITMO, oh it is STILL open
-ending Rendition, oh it is still policy
-the unemployment numbers
-the debt
-funding the 'green' projects of his 'buddies'
-healthcare legislation that is still a mystery
-the unraveling and incoherent US foreign
-disrespecting Israel
-making 'war' without authorization from Congress
-making 'nice' with Mexico and China
-trusting in 'The Arab Spring'
No one cared about who he was, what he did, who he knew, whom he associated with, what he believed or what he would do if elected. Why would he believe that anyone will care what he says or does now??
It all makes sense, doesn't it?
