According to GasBuddy.com, the average U.S. price of a gallon of regular gasoline in Philadelphia bottomed out at $1.64 about a week or so before President Obama's inauguration. Today, the average U.S. price of a gallon of regular gasoline is $3.62.
The economist noted that cost of living adjustments are based on core-inflation which ignores fuel prices.
So, with no real "core" inflation, consumers should realize they haven't been and aren't paying additional $$$s for each gallon of regular gasoline since Inauguration Day 2009. Then, too, with all of the improvement in the nation's economy, perhaps consumers should recognize that "Happy Days Are (Almost) Here Again."
How's all of that "hope and change" feeling?
